Winnipeg tattoo artist

FAQs

What is your rate?

My current rate comes to $210/hour after taxes. This is my minimum fee, no matter how small the tattoo. ( This is my hometown rate. Guest spot rates will differ depending on area I’m travelling to).

I am happy to give you an estimated quote at your consult. How long your tattoo will take will depend on multiple factors so a quote is always subject to change. I charge for set-up time to wrap up- not just the time I am tattooing you. This adds an additional 15-30 minutes onto the tab.  Lunch breaks stop the timer, but any breaks clients need to take beyond that do not. I do not currently have a design fee.

How do I book with you?

If my books are closed, you unfortunately cannot book with me. I have no wait list that I can add you to. You may be able to snatch up a last minute cancellation spot which I will always post about on my Instagram stories when they occur. I also have a cancellation Instagram page specifically for that purpose. Visit my profile to find it.

When I’m ready to open my books I will post about it ahead of time on my Instagram. I tend to open them once a year. Bookings fill up quickly and I will only accept ~100 -120 inquiries each time they open.

How do I pay?

I accept cash and etransfers only.

Can I prepay for my tattoo?

No — however, you can purchase a gift card in advance.

Can I talk during my tattoo?

Of course, I always enjoy getting to know people. But you should also feel free to sit in silence, pop in some earbuds, or just zone out. As a tattoo artist, I’m most comfortable when you’re comfortable. I can take cues fairly well and understand when clients do not wish to talk.

Do I have to bring in a design for you to tattoo?

I custom design every tattoo for every client, and won’t directly copy another artist’s work. Bringing images of other tattoos or artwork that you like (particularly my own work) can be helpful during the design and consultation, but the final piece will always be unique to you. Please do not ask a friend to design your tattoo and then bring that design in for me to replicate. I won’t be doing it, and I have many reasons for this you can feel free to ask me about. Designing your tattoo is my job!

How does a consult work?

What won’t you tattoo?

I won’t tattoo any symbols or images that perpetuates hate or bigotry.

I also don’t do tribal, American traditional or Japanese traditional designs; there are so many other amazing artists in the city that specialize in those styles.

Do you do colour?

Not very often. I do enjoy injecting subtle bits of colour into tattoos, but I cannot do large scale full coloured pieces. There are so many incredible artists in the city that can however, and you should be able to find them with a little research.

Will you send me a drawing of my tattoo ahead of time?

I do not send out designs before your appointment.

It is always very easy for me to make subtle changes to your design the day of. If you require a full redraw however, you will have to rebook and put down another deposit. Be very clear and concise about what elements you want in your tattoo at our consult and I should be able to capture exactly what you want.

If you have chosen me as your artist, please trust me as your artist. Make sure you look over my work before you book with me. If you love the work I do, then trust that you will love the tattoo I design for you. If this doesn’t work for you, there will be no exceptions so please do not book with me.

What are your hours?

I tattoo Tuesday to Friday. Tuesdays and Fridays 11:00-5ish. I do not work evenings or weekends. If you need an appointment outside of my work hours, I will not be able to accommodate you.

What if I want to change the location of my tattoo after our consult?

Let me know as soon as possible. There are location changes that may require you to come back for another consult. Moving a tattoo may require me to rethink how it will flow on your body, as well as require a larger time block. Do not wait for the day of your appointment to tell me of a location change or you run the risk of needing rebooked and forfeiting your deposit. You must inform me no less than 7 days out and if this requires another consult you will need to pay a fee.

Do you tattoo anyone under 18?

No, sorry.

Do you tattoo hands and necks?

Yes and no. If you have no other tattoos, or are under 25 and have no established career, I won’t tattoo you there. Even though tattoos are widely accepted these days, these locations are still considered job stoppers for future careers.

However, if you are covered in tattoos and are established in life, let’s have at ’er.

What if I want to add more elements to my tattoo after our consult?

If you want to add some more flowers, or change up an animal for example, absolutely feel free to e-mail me ahead of time with plenty of notice. If it works for me I may or may not respond, but will take note and implement your changes. If it doesn’t, I will let you know that we may need to rebook a consult!

Do you do cover ups?

All depends on what the tattoo needing covered up is. I have done quite a few in the past, but my style relies heavily on negative space so it is not always possible. Don’t be afraid to ask about it though!

Do you tattoo over scars?

Yes, I have done this many times. If you have a scar you need covered up, feel free to ask me if it’s possible.

Will you tattoo over skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis?

Yes, it’s usually no problem at all but everyone’s skin is unique, so it’s best to discuss options during a consult.

Do you do touch-ups?

Yes, of course. Touch-ups within six months are $80. You must send me a healed photo after a month and a half if you want to inquire about getting in within that time frame or my schedule may not be able to accommodate you. After six months, touch ups are subject to a $100 tray fee or my full hourly rate depending on what is needed and how long it has been.

There are a really great set of slides about whether or not you may need a touch up on my highlights on my Instagram. Be familiar with what to expect from a healed tattoo and understand not every tattoo needs a touch-up. If I do not think you need a touch-up, I will tell you. If you absolutely insist then I am happy to accommodate, but you will be charged my full rate. If you need a touch-up due to poor aftercare ( picking at scabs etc. ) then they will be my full hourly rate.
